
Social Media Contest: Cross promoting Adidas and Dwight Howard
Marketing Details:
- Adidas contacted TSM to create and manage a social media contest for Dwight Howard breaking the scoring record for the Orlando Magic.
Primary Goal: To create a contest that would
- cross promote Dwight Howard and Adidas
- Help launch Dwights new shoe line
- design campaign ( graphically and logistically)
- Refer traffic back to both Facebook pages
- Interact with fans
- Deploy incentives Commemorating Dwight Howard’s Top Scoring Record
- Handle all logistics
Task:
- TSM created, organized, and published a question contest, giving away a pair of signed Adidas shoes as the prize to two winners. This social media concept was created to stimulate fans interest with client’s Facebook. The contest would encourage followers to continuously view client’s page in order to post their answers, but also to discover clues to the following day’s question. These questions were posted one a day on Dwight Howard’s Facebook and also on Adidas’s Facebook tying in brand awareness for Adidas, while also commemorating Dwight Howard’s top scoring record. These questions were formatted and chosen by TSM based on research of the client and the client’s fan base.
- TSM created the campaign details along with the rules for fair discrimination, allowing everyone to have a chance to participate in the contest. A communication portal was created with specific directions on how to submit answers via social media; how they should be formatted and delivered.
- First, the top 10 participants with right answers were chosen. The client would then randomly select via video, 2 of the 10 participants to be the ultimate winners.

Results:
- Raised DH fan page 22,000 flowers
- Raised Adidas fan page 5,500 flowers
- Generated a total of 11,000 likes to posts made about shoe launch
- Generated 2,400 new email contacts for future marketing
